Isi artikelThe learning process, class structure and school organization in indonesia still could not optimize student's achievement. The learning process is not enjoyed by the students because it is not student centered. The contents are not correlated with the daily acitivities, needs and experiences of th esutdents and only touch the cognitive domain. Sidoarjo school improvement programme 2000 (SSIP 2000) designed a learning package consisting social topics for grade 3 and 4 of elementary education. It is aimed to : a. enhance the correlation with the daily life activities b. enhance student's activity and creativity c. develop the affective and social aspects besides the traditional cognitive domain. The implementation of the SSIP 2000 was carried out at 19 elementary schools spread in 3 clusters (sidoarjo, krembung and krian). This action research was implemented in stages. Results shows an enhancement of student interest and activity in the classroom due to teaching process system, the use of teaching tools and vairationsin learning activity, an enhancement of teacher's readiness and creativity in implementing the daily teaching process. Constraining factors in achieving the SSIP 2000 are discussed.
