Isi artikelChanging the way people think and behave is one of the biggest issues faced by business of today. The flexibility of the people in an organization can determine the success or failure of the latter. Behavioural (reinforcement) theories can be used to motivate people to change in the direction desired by the organization. By providing reward or punishment, people are conditioned to change. However, behavioural theories have some limitations. Social Cognitive Theory (SCT) which pays attention to personal characteristics of individuals can provide a better approach in changing people. By focusing on self-efficacy, SCT has contributed to the growth of multiple methods in developing people, such as mastery experience and modelling.
