Isi artikelData transmission digital communication system technique needs high bit - rate. Compression system decreases bit - rate. Fast Discrete Cosine Transform (FDCT) as pre - processing element on telephone speech compression. Parameters used to determine compression system : Signal To Noise Radio (SNR), Mean Square Error (MSE), time process, and compression ratio by static Huffman algorithm. FDCT shows small MSE, high SNR (20 dB), small time process (6.96 second for 325 kB data), and high compression ratio (65 %). The threshold value 2, 3, and 4 and quantification factors 20, 30, and 40 were best candidate for telephone speech compression with FDCT as pre - processing element.
