Splenoportography is a radiographic procedure by injecting the constrast material to evaluate the portal system. this procedure is a gold standard in imaging technic to evaluate the collateral of the portal vein. another advantage of Splenoportography procedure is assessment of the velocity of the flow in the portal vein. Splenoportography could be done directly by injecting contrast material to the spleen or indirectly by injecting the contrast to the a. coeliaca or a. siperior mesenterica. another non invasive procedure such as ultrasonography, CT Scan, magnetic resonance imaging and magnetic resonance angiography may take place the role of Splenoportography, but this invasive procedure remains still the procedure of choice and safe in the skilled and competent doctor.
