Medical faculty of Atma Jaya Catholic Unicersity has decided to impliment the problem-based learning (PBL) as one of the innovation methods as a learning process. that is why at the first stage, medical faculty of Atma Jaya Catholic University carried out PBL trial for the student of the enrollment year 2001/2002. the PBL implemented, used a module PAIN as a topic. the PBL was conducted during the even semester of 2001/2002. the PBL was started with lectures given by the experts from the six related subject matters as introductory and continued with group discussions. every case of the PAIN topic was discussed in three meetings. for evaluation, 156 students had to fill questionnaires and after examining the results. the following conclusions could be drawn : most students comment that PBL method is more useful and more interesting than the conventional method and they fell more motivated to be more active in the learning process.
