The seminar on ethical implications of cloning and stem cells was attended by a large audience mostly scholars and scientists of various disciplines. the paper was meant to give the audience a general comprehension of stem cells to be able to participate actively in the discussions. after a description of stem cells, the different types and origins were mentioned and the advantages and limitations of utilization of each type of stem cells in medicine were highlighted. stem cells are used in biomedical research, drugs discovery and toxicity testing, and reproductive and therapeutic cloning. to illustrate the scientific explanations examples were given of material different kinds of utilization.
