In the last decades of the 20th century, there are tremendous advancements in the field of biology, which are comparable with the revolution in physics in the early 20th century. the advancements are primarily seen in the fields of cellular and molecular biology. the progress in cellular and molecular biology is one of the important factors, which support basic medical research as well as clinical medicine. cellular and molecular biology originated from cytology, which experienced a very fast development after the progress of the electron microscopy. the development were also supported by the progresess in the fields of genetics, biochemistry and physiology.
