Isi artikelIn the sixtieth, women studies was developed in the United States and in Europe by women scientists who considered sciences as male biased. This discipline have passed four phases in its development before it was accepted as an autonomous course in several universities. Women studies which carry out an empirical research from the feminist perspective do not offer only one research method, but several, in order to develop the feminist reaserchers' creativity in putting their in advantage in the social changes. Therefore women studies should be inter- and multidisciplinary. As for women studies in Indonesia, some scientists, mostly women, carry out researches to get a better insight about Indonesian women's experiences which reflect their existential condition. This new approach i the Indonesian context has to face chalenges since Indonesian scientist --women scientist as well -- have to be convinced about its benefits. Besides, not many men scientists are ready to comprehend women specific problems.
