Isi artikelThere has been discussions in the community, suggesting the character education of indonesian people, especially the youth is not handled adequately, hence youth tends to misbehave. According to Freud's theory, human personality has aspects consisting the id, which operates according to the pleasure principle, demanding immediate gratification of its urges, the ego, operating according to the reality principle, which acts as controller and the superego as the moral component of personality that incorporates social standards, as well as being a reference of the ego in controlling the id. Therefore according to Freud, character education should be implemented since early childhood, performed in an internalizing process, with outside agents playing the key roles. This essay concludes that character education should be conducted at school, at home and in the community. The essay also discusses the rarity issue of models, an essential factor, which could be examples for the nation's youth.
