Isi artikelSignificant characteristics of the religiosity of catholic women in Korea are revealed chiefly through their devotions. In order to survive, catholic korea women in the strong confucian patriarchal society of the 18th and 19th centuries needed some tangible instruments to channel their pain and suffering, as well as their hopes and desiers, in petitions to the invisible God. To this end, they developed certain strong devotions and practices. they adopted concrete practices not dissimilar from those they had known in other asian religious traditions before their conversion. They devoted themselves wholeheartedly to the many devotions of catholicism, which seem to have soothed and healed their broken hearts..........
