Recent advances in computer and communication technology have enabled the construction of digital libraries, which have the potential to improve education. a digital library is a managed collection of information that is stored in digital from and received over a network (Arms, 2001 ; see also Borgman, 1999). in this article , we describe our vision of how the alexandria digital earth prototype (ADEPT)- a large-scale digital library project - can be used to assist college instructors to design information-rich and well-organized lessons (Borgman et al., 2000).
