Historical accounts of the emergence of intructional design as a field and its subsequent development tend to depict an apolitical progression, untroubled by divisiveness or controversy. even the failure of instructional design to play the anticipated and much hoped for role in improving schooling is, while a source of frustration to many instructional designers, not viewed as evidence of ruptuere and disharmony.
