Isi artikelThis study investigates the intention to adopt and continual usage behavior towards Internet Banking services in retail banks. It further validates the previous study (in Hong Kong) conducted by Chan and Lu (2004) within the context of Indonesia. A survey involving a total of 259 undergraduate and postgraduate students of seven universities/institutes in Jakarta and Bogor was conducted. Structural Equation Modeling was used to examine the entire pattern of intercorrelations among the eight proposed constructs and to test related hypotheses empirically. The research results show that subjective norm and image directly play significant roles in influencing the intention to adopt Internet Banking. Computer self-efficacy indirectly influences the intention to adopt Internet Banking. Perceived risk has no direct effect on perceived usefulness to adopt/continual usage of Internet Banking. Perceived ease of use has significant indirect effect on intention to adopt/continual usage through perceived usefulness, while its direct effect on intention to adopt is not significant. Some theoretical contributions and practical implications are discussed and suggestions for further research are presented.
