Isi artikelThe rapid globalization developments, in addition to demographic and epidemiological transitions lead to the increase of health problems due to changes if attitude and life style behaviour. The elderly diseases, which are mostly the degenerative and metabolic diseases, are closely related to some main risk factors including smoking behaviour and lack of fruits . vegetables consumption as well as physical activities. This analysis is aimed to determine the attitude of eldery people who smoke, consume inadequate fruits / vegetables and doing inactive physical activities according to province and demographic characteristics (i.e sex, marital status, education and economic level as well as residence). Data were derived from Susemas 2004 (Module), using descriptive analysis. the results show that 29.4% of elderly are smokers (ranged from 18.4% in East Nusa Tenggara to 48.2% in north Maluku), 87.4% consume fruits vegetables inadequaltely (ranged from 70.7% in North Sulawesi to 93.9% in Papua), 87.1% have lack of ohysical activities (ranged from 75.6% in Bengkulu to 97.2% in Papua). Chi Square test show significant differences between the elderly smoking status by sex, marital status, economic level and residence. For fruits / vegetables consumption, there s a significant difference only by education, while for physical activities, the differences are found to be significant according to sex, martial status, education, economic level and residence.
