Isi artikelThis article is based on a research aimed at examining primary school teachers’ perception toward S1 Program of Primary Teacher Education (PGSD). The roles of primary teachers in enhancing human resource quality are widely acknowledged. In order to effectively perform their roles, the teachers need to continually up dated their competencies. The Indonesian government has facilitated this need by allowing the teachers to take advance degrees. Nevertheless, many primary school teachers used this opprtunity by taking study program outside the area of primary education. One most cited reason for the situation is the existence of negative perception toward S1 Program of PGSD. A research involving 128 graduates from Universitas Terbuka DII Program of PGSD shows that most of the respondents have positive perception towards the S1 Program of PGSD.
