Isi artikelThis article describes a new system of instruction, referred as Student Centered Instruction (SCI) that have been introduced at Tilburg University, the Netherlands, in order to improve students' rate of success. The main characteristics of this instruction is that the various courses are designed in the form of series of so-called study tasks. A study task consist of a combination of content (subject matter) and activities (which are representative for the academic skills that must be acquired). It is argued that a teaching learning situation has to be arranged in such a way that students independently find the route that leads to the desired end performace and use many resources that are available to them.
