Existentialism emphasizes humans as unique subjects who are aware of their freedom and responsibilities as well as capable of thinking and making decisions. As unique creatures, humans can be understood only if viewed from their own outlook and ways of thinking. Existentialism-based counseling advocates that the clients be aware of their existence and potentials which would enable them to act accordingly. Through encounters a counselor assists his clients In finding the significance of their existence and perceive the world "here and now" in a subjective way. The success of existentialism counseling can be subjectively felt by the clients when they become aware of their free existence.
