In the beginning of 2004 Jakarta faced a dengue haemorrhagic outbreak which caused panic among heath services provider due to limited hospital beds to accommodate patients. Since then many activities have been done by Jakarta City Health Department. This study is an attempt to investigate the preparation of several community settings in Jakarta, the activities of Puskesmas in controlling DHF (Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever) and the knowledge of practices of community leaders from several city setting such as schools, high and middle income community, and of government offices to prevent those diseases by implementing periodic larvae clearance. it is concluded that health education effort on DHF control does not cover effort to control those diseases at schools, universities, offices and high-income housing community, Knowledge and practice of DHF in those community settings are low.
