In order to know whether epidemiological transition has occured or not in slum areas, a survey a was done concerning obesity in a group consisiting of mothers and fathers. The survey was condeucted in South Duri, consisting of 167 fathers and 174 mothers, by means of interviews and anthropometric measure. The collected data is as follows : Overweight (BMI > 25) for father = 19.5% and mothers = 29.1%. The prevalence of obesity is (BMI > 30) for fathers = 1.7% and mothers = 5.1%. The mean ratio of the waist measurement of fathers 0.874 SD ; 0.073 is greater compared to mothers 0.829 SD ; 0.058. Concerning their perception of nutrition, 74.7% of fathers and 56.9% of mothers are satisfied with their weight. And 27.0% of mothers and 13.0% of fathers stated that they are too fat (overweight). Efforts condicted to maintain or to lose weight. Father play sports (20.4%) and drink jamu (jamu is a tonic made from medicinal herbs). (17.3%) and mother drink jamu (33.9%) and diet 8.6%.
