Measuring blood pressure is necessary to establish accurate diagnosis, follow up history of illness and hypertension therapy. it is necessary to detech significant discrepancy in the use of different instruments. Thirty three females and 35 males, healthy aged betwen 30 - 50 years, participated in the study. Blood pressure measuement was done using mercurial and neroid tensimeters. The results of the test showed significant discrepancy between mean values of blood pressure of mercurial and aneroid tensimeter readings (P < 0.05). It is concluded and suggested that significant discrepancy were detected by the use of different blood pressure instruments. In the case of aneroid tensimeter, frequent standardization of instrument should be done to validate blood pressure measurements.
