There have been two periods of government history in Indonesia known as the old and the new order government. Both have forbidden their citizens to change the 1945 Constitution. In the reformation period, the question of reconstituting the 1945 Constitution has been risen. The reasons for its reconstitution is due to the charge that the 1945 Constitution was meant to be temporary besides it has several weaknesses requires improvement in the democratization era. This article has attempted to decribe the reason for its changes, method of change, and the course of change for the 1945 Constitution.
