Isi artikelThe ideal characteristics of a ship is to have high thrust power and lower hull form resistance or drag. Thrust power is being generated by propulsion system mounted in the ship. There are many propulsion system have been introduced, however in this paper, emphasis is given to jet propulsion system. The system comprises of orifice fixed on each side of ship, a centrifugal pump and nozzle at the stern. As ship in its advance velocity, water is sucked through the two orifices and being pumped out at the end of the system where nozzle being applied. The applied principle is the application of the impulse-momentum equation where there is a reaction of a high velocity jet issuing from a nozzle provides the necessary thrust.
