Tourism is a type of activity that motivates population mobility so that it can increase the intensity of social interaction. Besides, it can also be an opportunity for rapid acculturation. However, social economic and cultural benefits, which can be gained by Buginese and Makassar ethicity truly depend on their anticipation of this opportunity. This article has attempted to show the development of tourism in south Sulawesi where Buginese and Makasar are the largest ethic groups and have potential to develop tourism in east Indonesia.
