The rapid change of land use in cities such as Jakarta could be observed through remote sensing of multi temporal satellite data. The observation result of land use change will be suitable for analyzing change in urban environment. The purpose of this study was to analyze environmental change by using information of land use change from remote sensing multi temporal data, In order to evaluate environmental change, land use classification used maximum likelyhood from 1994 - 1997 landsat Thematic Mapper TM multi temporal data. Eight classes of land use were categorized. The change of land use by reclamation will lead to negative impacts, i.e. flooding, ecosystem degradation, drainage obstruction and land collapse.
