Bandung is located in a hilly area and surrounded by mountains of various heights, so that Bandung forms a potentially flooded basin. The flood of march 11 and repeated march 25, 1998 showed unstable weather conditions. Bandung experienced cloudiness and heavy rainfall, so that the Citandui River and its tributaries were not able to intercept the incoming floodwater. Data analysis of rainfall data and physical condition of Bandung was conducted by NOAA satellite image. Analysis indicated that the southern part of Bandung often experienced flooding due to a close correlation between cloud convection formation, rainfall and physical soil condition.
