The district of Kepulauan Seribu is part of North Jakarta municipality. it has potential sea tourism, however it is not yet optimally developed. Kepulauan Seribu faces many problems such as thinning of sand and corral reef resources, degradation, deforestation and industrial waste such as oil polution. It has fallen in acceleration of development compared to other areas in North Jakarta. Another problem in dispute is based on RI Regulation no. 22 year 1999 these islands have been claimed by the municipality of Tangerang North Java.
