According to 1945 Constitution, Chapter XV, Article 36, Bahasa Indonesia is the Indonesian State Language. One of the functions of the state language is its use as a medium in educational institutions. Higher education institutions are consider the most mature institutions so that they must until must give their contribution to the development of Bahasa Indonesia. The roles of higher education institutitons in developing Bahasa Indonesia are among others : 1) to help students accelerate their studies, 2) to enrich the library of higher education with Bahasa Indonesia, 3) to take part in the development of technology, and 4) to contribute to the use of Bahasa Indonesia in the organization structure of higher education institutions. In order to be able to carry out the above roles, higher education institutions must discipline themselves in using the priciples of Bahasa indonesia and have good command of standard terminologies.
