The dual nature of Public Relations is generally overlooked. Practitioners tend to understand PR merely as a professional activity the management of communication whereas academicians view it as an intellectrual domain. PR training program in Indonesia heavily emphasize on technical practices and techniques of PR due to its young origin. this article is written on the assumption that the professional activity and the intellectual domain of PR are different yet reciprocally related. Consequently, an adequate understanding of the PR body of knowledge needed for developing a communication curriculum if the program is expected to satisfy the increasing demand for communication professionals. Moreover, PR has been so developed that it achieves the status of corporate communication which is the conceptual umbrella of PR. Marketing Communication and Integrated Communication. The authors of this article hope that ideas and concepts discussed in this article may be of service for developing a soubd curriculum for the Department of Communication Studies that Atma Jaya faculty of Administrative Science is about to institute in coming academic year.
