This article an overview ot the crucial points that should be dealt with in an intensive one-semester course of Indonesian for Academic Purposes at the university level. The course consists of the following components: efficient and effective language registers, language genres in science and technology; inductive and deductive reasoning in scientific writing, fallacious reasoning; outlining, paragraphing; sentence structures in various sentence "types, sentence effectiveness; appropriate diction, scientific terms and terminologies.
