Isi artikelThis paper discusses antipassive clauses in Acehnese, an Austronesian language spoken in the Special Province of Aceh. The characterization of the antipassive in much of the literature shows that the antipassive is a demotion from an Actor to an Undergoer. Data from Acehnese, however, show, that (a) in general an Actor does not always become an Undergoer in antipassives, and (b) antipassives can also occur with verbs whose argument is an Undergoer.
