The article raises two problems: (1) it ignores previously published French-language studies dealing with exactly the same topic and (2) the findings presented in the article are limited. These two problems are linked, for had Lieberson and Bell presented the findings of previous studies on the same topic, the weakness of their own findings would have been obvious.
