Type I diabetes mellitus (TIDM) is an autoimmune disease, where the insulin producing beta cells of the pancreas are destroyed by the patient's own immune bodies, leaving the blood glucose uncontrolled. The puepose of this research was to understand more deeply the stress suffered by TIDM patients and their stress coping behaviour. Data were collected through an in - depth interview with four adolescent patients (aged 11 - 20 years) including their parents, focusing onthe stress they suffered and their coping strategy. Result reveal that stress suffered by these patients are connected with the self management and self - accepting discipline. The four patients tend to dopt an emotion coping strategy.
