Although a perfect research is impossible to archieve, a researcher should always prevent conducting a completely wrong research. This old slogan once proposed by Wolcott (1990) was highlighted due to a lack in afreement in qualitative research quality criteria. Instead of enlivening the innovation contest, the author has systematically reviewed the scientific articles about it, then identifying and followed by mapping the five cardinal positions in the debates concerning the topic. These are the absolute refusal, accepting the open and subjective evaluation list, refusing the quality criteria but accepting the guiding / ideal principles, contextualization / parraleling the quantitative research quality criteria, and the pursuit of the inter - approach joint standard. The philosophical background, the methodology, and even the personal preferences of the researcher are discussed.
