The author discusses a frade trade competition in the view of autonomy region. He argues the implementation of AFTA (ASEAN Free Trade Area) agreement is going to come soon in the next 2002 and the indonesia government has no choice to postpone it. Almost in the same period of time, the central government of indonesia has implemented decentralization policy called as automomy region policy be the released of act no. 22 / 1999. These acts have given enough room to local governments to run their governmental policies including finance, investment and trading sector. However there are troublesome in trading policies that are likely diametriacal to free trade competition regime amongst as well as they have different perspective of decentralization policy. But the author says in the relationhsip between free trade competition and economy regime policy, the local government should support and back up the implementation of free internal trade in order to acquire an economic gain form an open market system indicated by efficiency and professionalism.
