This article describes a scheme designed to enable individual learners of English to complete a series of interrelated comprehension tasks based on a set of written and spoken texts. The article describes first the spesific teaching context in which the programme was set up and the learning needs that shaped the eventual format of the materials. It goes on to explain how the interlinking of texts and tasks makes it possible for individual learners to use whichever is their stronger comprehension skill--reading or listening--to boost their performance in the weaker skill. Finally, suggestions are given for ways in which the programme might be adopted for use by teachers in varying teaching circumstances and locations.
