Research in L2 writing processes tends to emphasize the transferability of L1 composing strategies into L2 writing. It has not paid attention to the conditions for the transfer, and the varied effects on L2 writing of different process, hypothesizes that organizational problem in L2 writing may result from the employement of L1 drafting strategies. Pedagogical implications of this understanding are also discussed.
