Isi artikelThis article reports on the results of the National Core French Study (NCFS), a comprehensive research and development project undertaken throughout Canada between 1984 and 1990. It first reviews the four syllabuses - Communicative/Experiential, Language, Culture, and General Language Education - developed for the multidimensional curriculum model proposed by the NCFS. Strategies for student evaluation are discussed. Finally, it describes a possible instructional model for French second language teaching, based on the experience of teachers who have attempted to incorporate the research results into their classroom practice.
