This article propose thet the periodic use of the video camera can generate a higher level of student interest, involvement, and productivity in the everyday tasks of the beginning foreign language course. It expands the range of possible uses for the video camera in the classroom as a means of generating guided, spontaneous, and real use of the foreign language in vocabulary expansion and reinforcement and in the presentation and illustration of grammar points. Four techniques for the use of the video camera in the classroom are discribed as well as possible outcomes and benefits derived from the approach.
