This fiber was studied to find the possibility of pulp manufacturing. Garut fiber was dipped into 2,5 % Ca(OH)2 solution for three days. The cooking process used sodium hydroxide (NaOH) as cooking liquor with the ratio of the liquor to solid raw material 5 / 1. Effect of cooking temperature (90 celcius degree, 100 celcius degree), cooking time (1/2, 1 hour) and concentration of solution was reported in this paper. This process produced pulp with a - cellulose 64 - 72 % lignin content of 16 - 24 % and yield in the range 6 - 8 %.
