This article is a review of various research projects under way in the author's laboratory-projects that seek to explore the ways in which computation and materials science can expand the horizons of children's craft activities. The article concludes by arguing that the educational technology community at large would be well served by devoting a far greater degree of attention to the advancement of educational crafts.
