Single-phase series motor is an electric motor widely used as source of mechanical power in domestic and industrial appliance & This type of motor can he used with either a dc supply or a single-phase ac supply and therefore are called universal motors. This electric motor is able to produce high starting torque and can operate at high speed. This paper will discuses the operation qf single-phase motor, the analyzing method to determine the working characteristics by a dc supply or a single-phase ac supply. In one case, the alternative design is developed to assist to determine the expected characteristics.
