Early developments and evolving refinements of internship criteria are presented, as well as the roles that the American Psychological Association. Veterans Administration, National Register, American Association of State Psychology Boards, and Association of pychology Internship Centers had in the development of internships through the second half of the 20th century. Some current developments and whtll they may portend for the future training of professional psychologists are discussed in the conclusion.
