The objective of this experiment was to determine the effect of manure level and dosage of mulch on production and nutritive value of king grass (Pennisetum Purpupoides) in red-yellow podzolic soil. This experiment was carried-out for four months in Animal Farm, Faculty of Animal Science Andalas University. The experiment used factorial model in a randomized block design with two treatments and three replications. The factors involved were manure application (0, 10 and 20 to.7.ha'/) and dosage of rice straw mulch application (0. 4, 8 and 12ton, ha-1). The parameter measured were the fresh yield dry matter, crude protein, Crude fiber, calcium and phosphorus content of king grass, The results of experiment showed that effect of manure on fresh yield and nutritive value of king grass were no significant (P>0.05J ai710ng the treatments. The dosage of rice straw mulch application showed highly significant (P<0,01) effect on fresh yield and its dry matter content and no significant effect (P>0.05) on crude protein and c.'1lde fiber content!;; but significantly different (P<0.05) or. calcium and phosphorus content. The interaction between both factors had no significantly different among parameter.
