The study of the species composition and the community structure of plankton at Lake Talang had been carried out on December: 1992 to January 1992. The quantitative approach was applied in the study to know the species composition and community study, while the percentage frequency and the Monita's Index were used for the distribution pattern. The water sample were taken atfrve sites, Northern part, Southern part, Eastern part and Western part and also at the inlet. It was found 24 species of plankton, where Staurastrum (Desmidiaceae, Zygnematales, Cholorophyta) was most abudance. There was four species of Staurastrum; S. conicum (5- 35xl03 ind/l), S. megantum (246-138Dxl03 ind/l), S. rhyncoceps (600-I944x/103 ind/l) and S. wildernii (6- 18xl03 ind/l). The total abundance of the plankton was (1987- 4733xI03 ind/l); Morista's index was 0.620 and pH 5,5-0.5. According to the finding it was seem ihe blooming of Desmid (Staurastrum) appear. The distribution was clearly homogen.
