A study on the algal mats and it's ecological aspects in the rivers around Padang City were conducted from September 1998 to January 1999. The aim of this study is to know the species composition, biomass, chlorophyl content, and ecological aspects of algal mats in the rivers.The first to do in the field was observing the growthplaces of the algae mat along the rivers.
