The objectives of study is to investigate the real offloading labor in the growth of the Malaysian manufacturing sector. Analysis will be based on growth accounting approach using data from the Manufacturing Survey between 1985 and 1996 collected by the Department of Statistics of Malaysia. The result showed that combustion of foreign labor in the growth of manufacturing is quite .substantial and increasing from 0.21 percentage point during 1985-1990 to 1.67 percentage penile during 1990-1996. Majority of foreign workers are in more labor-intensive light industry as unskilled and semi skilled. However, skilled workers and expatriates are increasingly importance especially in heavy industry. Annual growth rates of foreign workers are observed to higher than the growth rate of local in almost all subs industries regardless of light or heavy industries.
