A field experiment which was to study on arthropods composition in chili mix cropping conducted in vicinity of Padang during June to October 2001. Chili-long bean-com, chili-long bean, chili -com, and Only chili Were planted as treatments with 3 replications in each. To investigate of arthropods under plants used pitfall traps which was laid on soil surface, while for arthropods on the plant and air were collected by shaking of the plants and sweeping of insect nets in weekly during 10 weeks after planting. During vegetative phase of chili, diversity of arthropods was highest in chili-long bean-com planting but it was not able to suppress population of leaf scale (13. Tobacco) even cocktailed population as a predator also high in. the field. Chili which was planted with com have maintained the leaf scale population lower. Role ablate unto suppress herbivorous insects was effective.
