The experiment was conducted ta p,valuate tr.e piwtosyntate partitioning of mangosteen seedling as affected by shade regimes, arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi, and phosphate fertilizer from April until September 1999 in the experimental field of Andalas University Padang with an elevation of about. 150 m above sea level. The pot experiment was to evaluate three levels of shading (25, 50, and 75 percent), two arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi species {Glomus etunicatum and Glomus manihotis, and control}, and four dosages of phosphnte fertilizer (0, 150, 300, and 450 mg pot 1 month-1). The experimental design were Randomized Blocks Design in factorial pattern with three replications The results of the experiment showed that (l) there were no interaction effects between shading, AMF inoculation and P fertilizer on the AMF infection, photosyntate partitioning, and total dry weight of 5 months mangosteen seedling, (2) photosyntate partitioning of sheet mangosteen seedling were the same between with 50 and 75%, but higher than those with 25% shading and the opposite on photosyntate partitioning of root mangosteen seedling (3) shading of 50 and 75% :showed better results than 25 percent for due to AMF inoculation of all strains and P fertilizer of all rates on the photosyntate partitioning and total dry weight of 5 months mangosteen seedling. (4) dry weight of leaf gave significant contribution on total dry weight of plant.
