Of its varying manifestations, Diabetic Macular Edema (DME) is the most frequent cause of vision loss in these patients. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) allows for the characterization and monitoring of DME, tractional retinal detachment, epiretinal membrane formation, and diabetic papilopathy and serves as an objective measure to which clinical decision regarding treatment for these conditions can be determined.
