Isi artikelA periodic inventory system with emergency replenishment is an inventory system with two replenishment modes. Regular orders are characterized by a shorter lead time and higher acquisition cost. We assume that penalty cost is more expensive than emergency order cost. The model has two decision variables : S (base stock) and r (threshold on the net - stock). This paper deals with a derivation of the expected total cost model and how to seek decision variables that optimize the model. An optimal solution is obtained by using trapezium recursive technique. Results are comapred with simulation results of tagaras & vlachos (2001) using the same data. Trapezium recursive technique gives optimal solution that close to results from simulation. Model with emergency replenishment gives a substantial cost saving relative to a model without emergency replenishment option.
